http://www.philadelphiazoo.org/ Today, the Zoo is reaching new heights in all areas of its mission as a conservation, education and recreation organization. State-of-the-art animal exhibits and health-care facilities, award-winning education and conservation programs, recreational opportunities, guest services, scientific accomplishments and historically significant venue make the Philadelphia Zoo one of the world's most renowned zoological societies and gardens.
Throughout 2013 Philadelphia Zoo is educating and engaging visitors about the positive correlation between saving energy and conserving the planet’s wildlife population. Climate change by carbon dioxide emissions from energy use is threatening the livelihood of many already endangered species. Migratory patterns of birds are disrupted, rainfall changes are impacting the moist conditions necessary for species like frogs to breed, rising temperatures are complicating entire food webs and melting ice could lead to polar bear extinction by 2050. The Zoo is committed to reducing the impacts of a changing climate on wildlife here, in Philadelphia, and around the world. Everyday choices around saving electricity, conserving water and recycling can help wildlife and the environment.
The Year of the Next Generation, with the new KidZooU: Hamilton Family Children’s Zoo & Faris Family Education Center as a vessel for connecting children to wildlife, the Zoo has mad an investment in generations to come – inspiring them to make choices in their everyday lives to save energy and save wildlife, in Philadelphia and around the globe.
