Previously, Labaron was the Assistant Director of the University of Pennsylvania’s Middle East Center. As Assistant Director his responsibilities were divided between the managing of the Center’s outreach program, the administration of the public lecture series, managing the Center’s communication and advertising, and assisting on many other activities of the Center, which focuses on the languages and area studies of the Middle East and North Africa.

Labaron completed his undergraduate studies at Temple University earning a B.A. in Geography & Urban Studies, along with a certificate in Political Economy. He completed graduate studies at West Chester University of Pennsylvania earning a M.A. in Geography, with an emphasis on Urban Planning. His primary interests are an interdisciplinary worldwide focus on globalization and development issues utilizing his background in Geography (urban, political, developmental) and Urban Planning.

He is a member of the United Nations Association of Greater Philadelphia, a former global education intern for the World Affairs Council of Philadelphia, and recently participated in a short term study abroad project in Turkey with a Fulbright-Hays award.
