Philly hosts National Men of Color Association Month Celebration and the return of the Black Men Conference: "Brothers in the Struggle"

October 2024 is National Men of Color Association month with the select title of. Celebrating 30 Years of Empowerment for Black Men. The featured event will be held Friday, October 18th, 4:00 PM – 9:00 PM at the Rotunda, 4014 Walnut Street, Philadelphia, PA. 19104. This special occasion is Free and Open to the Public and Dinner will be served (Donations will be accepted).

In honor of October's 2024 National Men of Color Association Month, fundraising and resource development will support and endorse the Million Woman March, and the Black World Influencers Pilot Initiative. Additionally, the event will promote the Black Male Species Museum, Intercultural Center, and Research Library of Archival Folklore Collectibles. The opening and closing events shall include Temple University PASCEP Community Workshop (Free and Open to the Public) which will be Co-hosted and Facilitated by Temple University's Office of Community Affairs and Engagement and held at the Entertainment Community Education Center (ECEC), 1509 Cecil B. Moore Avenue, 2nd Floor. The dates are Wednesday, October 16th and 23rd, 2024 5:30pm - 7:00pm (Refreshments will be served). Workshop Title: Black Male Empowerment and Participants will learn how to negotiate life situations and resolutions for conflict.. Also on Thursday, October 17th and 24th 5:30pm to 7:00pm (Refreshments will be served) Workshop Title: Human Relationships: Black Male Health, Wellness and Healing This is a workshop series regarding Family Preservation and addressing issues and topics concerning Trauma Informed, Coping Skills, Grief and Loss, Healing and Forgiveness, Youth Aggression, Community Violence, Positive Youth Development, Neighborhood Revitalization and Concerned Citizenship.

- *Awards Ceremony, Chat & Chew, Meet & Greet*: Recognizing excellence within the Black male community and offering networking opportunities in an intimate, relaxed space.

- *Performance*: *Why Are Black Boyz2Men Dying Too Soon?*
- *Panel Discussion*: *What Happened to the Good Black Men?* Focused on challenges and perceptions surrounding Black men in today's society.
- **7:00 PM – 8:00 PM:**
- *Black Guys, Black Power, and Black Folks*: Examining lost, strayed, or stolen opportunities for Black empowerment and unity.
- **8:00 PM – 9:00 PM:**
- *Whatcha Do When They Come for You?* An engaging discussion addressing systemic challenges faced by Black men, with reflections on the pressures to "keep it real."
This event aims to foster dialogue, awareness, and proactive measures/restorative practices toward empowering men of color, while celebrating the 30th anniversary of the first Black Men’s Conference (1994).
This gathering will also raise critical funds for the development of the **Black Male Species Museum**, an initiative dedicated to preserving the heritage and promoting the progress of Black men. This museum, along with the Intercultural Center and Research Library, will serve as a cultural and educational hub, preserving folklore, history, and valuable cultural artifacts for future generations.
This is an invite for all partners, stakeholders and potential collaborators to join in this critical celebration of Black men's contributions to society and to collectively strategize for future advancements.
