Kurt Vonnegut as a Visual Artist

event flyer

“The arts are not a way to make a living. They are a very human way of making life more bearable. Practicing an art, no matter how well or badly, is a way to make your soul grow, for heaven’s sake.”

- "A Man Without a Country"

On March 13, Drexel University unveiled Kurt Vonnegut as a Visual Artist, an exclusive collection of more than 20 rarely seen marker drawings by Kurt Vonnegut Jr., offering a fresh perspective on his creative legacy. While Vonnegut is best known for his literary brilliance, he was also a prolific visual artist. This exhibition offers a rare glimpse into that lesser-known but deeply expressive side of his work and talents as a visual artist.

The exhibition runs through July 19, 2025, at the Paul Peck Center Gallery (located at 3142 Market Street, in Philadelphia) and is free and open to the public.

You can learn more about the exhibition and upcoming public workshops hosted both at the gallery and at the Free Library of Philadelphia on our exhibition page.  While there, you can also view a short video featuring art collector and lender Heather M. Rose, along with Lynn Waddell, Executive Director of University Collections and Exhibitions at Drexel.
