Dreaming Big: July 4th Opening of "Indivisible" Art Exhibition

Dreaming Big

This July 4th, I invite you to the opening of "Indivisible: A Celebration of Immigrants, Refugees and the Pursuit of Freedom". It's been amazing to co-curate this show with Chela Ixcopal and work with the incredibly talented and lovely owners of iMPeRFeCT Gallery, Rocio and Renny! And of course, the honor of working with twenty artists to showcase their beautiful art.

This has been a terrible year for immigrant rights, with nonstop attacks on the immigrant community, expansion of the deportation machine and the gutting of an already broken immigration system. The show is deliberately opening on July 4th to take back the narrative and instead celebrate how immigrants make all communities stronger. And of course, we'll be cooking out, so bring a folding chair and come get some carne asada!

The human right to migrate is sown into the DNA of all people, rooted in the need for nourishment, home and future. In an era where immigration is criminalized and immigrants are demonized daily, migration is an act of resistance and generational empowerment. "Indivisible' showcases the narratives and artistic expression of those who have chosen to make the United States their home despite hostility, white supremacy and broken systems. It imagines a future when the nation is truly united, where immigrants are not only welcomed, they are celebrated.
