About the Presentation

When people think of classical music, names like Beethoven or Mozart often come to mind. Yet, the art of classical composition is a universal language that spans the globe—including the Americas. Latin America has a long and proud history of classical music composition, with composers who have skillfully woven the rhythms and melodies of their local cultures into timeless works.

Dr. Schidlow will guide us through the lives and works of some of the most influential Latin American composers, illustrating their contributions with carefully selected video performances of iconic pieces by renowned orchestras and ensembles. Through this immersive experience, attendees will gain a deeper appreciation of the unique cultural fusion that defines Latin America's place in the world of classical music.
