About SDG #14

"Conserve and sustainably use the oceans, seas and marine resources for sustainable development.

Healthy oceans and seas are essential to our existence. They cover 70 percent of our planet and we rely on them for food, energy and water. Yet, we have managed to do tremendous damage to these precious resources. We must protect them by eliminating pollution and overfishing and immediately start to responsibly manage and protect all marine life around the world."

About the Sponsor: The Philadelphia Water Department

Philadelphia Water Department - Wikipedia

The Philadelphia Water Department (PWD) supplies drinking water, wastewater, and stormwater services to customers within the City of Philadelphia.

The Department also has one wholesale water contract and 10 wholesale wastewater contracts with entities outside the City.

PWD maintains a network of more than 3,100 miles of water mains, 3,700 miles of sewers, six treatment facilities, and 34 pumping stations.

About the Grantee:

In 2000, the Philadelphia Water Department (PWD) launched TTF Watershed Partnership in a groundbreaking effort to connect diverse stakeholders as neighbors and stewards of the watershed. The partnership was integral in developing the TTF Integrated Watershed Management Plan, a blueprint for restoring this urban stream into a community asset while addressing the mandated requirements of the federal Clean Water Act and Stormwater Permit Program (MS4).

TTF is all about connecting watershed residents and communities to their creeks! Through hands-on education, stewardship, restoration, and advocacy, TTF empowers their constituents to take care of and improve the impaired waterways across our 30 square miles.
