The Barry & Marie Lipman Family Prize is made possible through a generous gift from Barry and Marie Lipman and reflects their strong commitment to socially responsible organizations and action. The Prize is administered by the University of Pennsylvania through the Wharton School and engages faculty, staff, and students from across the University. The work of the Prize resides within Wharton's McNulty Leadership Program and is conducted with the support of other university institutes and centers, such as the Wharton Social Impact Initiative, the Center for Leadership & Change Management, the Netter Center for Community Partnerships, the Center for High Impact Philanthropy, and the Master of Science Program in Nonprofit/NGO Leadership.

AWARD COMPONENTS

The Lipman Family Prize includes:

1. A $250,000 unrestricted cash award for the grand prize-winning organization and $150,000 for each of the two other winners.

2. An ongoing partnership with the University dedicated to knowledge sharing and support of the organization. This includes promotion of their work and accomplishments in the Lipman Prize network of organizations, Penn faculty and alumni, and social impact funders.

3. Access to tuition-free executive education programs at Wharton Executive Education and the Center for Social Impact Strategy at Penn, valued at approximately $15,000.

4. The exclusive Lipman Nonprofit Leadership Scholarship, given in partnership with the University’s School of Social Policy and Practice, valued at approximately $10,000.

All three winners for the Lipman Family Prize receive the same non-monetary benefits as well as an ongoing partnership with the University dedicated to knowledge sharing and support of the organization.
