Montessori Method
Based on her scientific observations of young children, Dr. Maria Montessori developed a child-centered approach to education that sees the child as an individual naturally eager for learning and capable of self-directing that learning if provided with a carefully prepared, supportive learning environment. Montessori created specific materials and curriculum to support the natural development of each child’s social, emotional, intellectual and physical capabilities. What is now known as the Montessori Method has been used for over 100 years in cultures all over the world and has stood the test of time and research. The best way to learn about and understand the Montessori Method is to see it in action, and you may call any IMSchools campus to schedule an observation and tour. In addition, the following links offer excellent introductions to Maria Montessori and the life changing method of education that she developed.
