This year, two spectacular global events have taken place in Philadelphia. Celebrating 250 years of American independence and hosting the FIFA World Cup, Philadelphia is at the center of remarkable historical and global moments that will remain as markers of the city's impact. In making these events more enjoyable and accessible to all, Comcast has been involved as a generous donor, impactful partner, and community builder to great effect.

Recalling the 2024 and Winter 2026 Olympics, Comcast has set a standard of high-quality, inclusive broadcasting and support for major global events, intentionally connecting Philadelphia and the world through cutting-edge technology. Philadelphia has served as the company's headquarters since 1969 – just six years after its founding – with the esteemed Comcast Center as its flagship location. Over the years it has provided services for entertainment and connection on a global scale.

As a founding partner of Philadelphia250, Comcast aided in celebrating the Semiquincentennial and Philadelphia's foundational role in the establishment of the country through events like the Block Party Bonanza. They also partnered with organizations such as the Philadelphia Museum of Art and ArtPhilly, which led initiatives that highlighted the country's revolutionary and diverse history through their arts and culture showcases. Supported by Comcast in these ways, they were able to bring representation, connectivity, and multidisciplinary education to communities in and around Philadelphia, setting a reminder of the meaningful partnerships and work that built the country.

As a Global Philadelphia Association member, Comcast's commitment to facilitating global connectivity and raising Philadelphia on the national and world stage is highly valued. Comcast gives back to Philadelphia's communities by investing funds, time, and volunteers to support the restoration of natural and public spaces, and create more opportunities for youth and local engagement. This includes being a sponsor and close partner of projects in the FDR Park and Building 1 by the Fairmount Park Conservancy. Following the end of the World Cup tournament, these locations will open new pitches for the use of various neighborhoods, giving children access to safe recreational spaces.

Comcast has also provided greater connectivity for this summer's FIFA Fan Festival at Lemon Hill through Wi-Fi hotspots and reliable network for attendees. In the same way, the company's exclusively Spanish platform, Telemundo, has broadcast every match thus far in the tournament. On July 4, marking both the U.S. 250th Independence Day and the beginning of the Round of 16 for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, Philadelphia hosted a match between France and Paraguay, which was shown live by Comcast and Telemundo.

The tournament as a whole has seen record viewership for Comcast and its broadcasting services including the aforementioned Telemundo and Peacock. The Round of 16 Mexico versus England match broke history for Spanish-language media with a 23.3 million Total Audience Delivery. In total, Spanish-language platforms including Telemundo have had over 61 billion minutes of media consumed.

The involvement of Philadelphia Soccer 2026 co-chairs Michelle Singer and Dan Hilferty, two influential Comcast leaders in preparing the city's World Cup festivities, has supported the success of the events, fundraising, and services necessary to make for the best fan experiences. This will in turn lead to an economic impact of up to $770 million, which will be generated back into the Pennsylvania economy. In this way, as the state has expended its resources to welcome this global event, it has also been further equipped to compensate employees as well as provide infrastructure for community sporting facilities.

The semiquincentennial and 2026 FIFA World Cup are reminders of Comcast's pivotal work connecting Philadelphia to the world and bringing the world closer to home.
