David Eisner

David Eisner is the President and CEO at Convergence Center for Policy Resolution.

Prior this role, he served as the President and Chief Executive Officer of the National Constitution Center, the first and only nonpartisan, nonprofit American institution devoted to the Constitution. The National Constitution Center's mission is to illuminate constitutional ideals and inspire acts of citizenship. Appointed to the post in November 2009, Eisner works with the Center’s 40-member Board of Trustees — currently chaired by President William J. Clinton — and presides over the $200-million facility’s financial, educational and programmatic initiatives.

Eisner assumed leadership of the Center following a five-year tenure as CEO of the Corporation for National and Community Service (CNCS), the independent federal agency that oversees America’s national service programs, including AmeriCorps, VISTA and Senior Corps. Eisner was appointed by President George W. Bush and confirmed by the U.S. Senate in December 2003, and is widely credited with strengthening the agency’s accountability, improving customer service, increasing public trust, strengthening morale among the 600 staff in 50 offices, and positioning CNCS for significant growth.

Eisner was previously a senior executive at AOL Time Warner and America Online, Inc., where he established and directed the AOL Foundation, a charitable organization dedicated to using the power of media and information technology to serve the public interest. Prior to joining AOL, he worked for Fleishman-Hillard International Communications as a senior vice president; he also directed public relations and field communications for the Legal Services Corporation in Washington, D.C. Eisner started his career on Capitol Hill, serving as communications director and press secretary for several members of Congress.

A nationally recognized leader in nonprofit organizational effectiveness, Eisner serves on the boards of several national organizations, including Points of Light, Taproot, Public Allies, and Our Good Works. He received his bachelor’s degree from Stanford University and his J.D. from Georgetown Law. Eisner, his wife, Lori, and their four children live in the Philadelphia region.
