WORLD INTERNATIONAL SWAHILI DAY
You are invited to a special celebration of World Kiswahili Language Day on Sunday, July 26, 2026, in Africatown, Philadelphia.
In November 2021, the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) proclaimed 7 July as World Kiswahili Language Day, recognizing Kiswahili as the first African language to receive such international recognition.
To commemorate this important occasion, the Embassy of the United Republic of Tanzania in the United States, in collaboration with ACANA, Africatown, World Trade Center of Greater Philadelphia and Odunde 365, is pleased to host a special celebration of World Kiswahili Language Day on Sunday, July 26, 2026.
The event will showcase Tanzania's rich linguistic and cultural heritage through Kiswahili language, music, cultural performances, and engaging discussions highlighting the growing global significance of Kiswahili as a language of diplomacy, unity, solidarity, and liberation. Join us to celebrate!
