What’s Jewish at the PMA?

The debate about what constitutes “Jewish Art” will not be resolved on this tour. However, we will acknowledge the contribution of a Jewish architect and see a sculpture by a Jewish artist that makes a bold statement about the museum’s mission. We will discuss works of art by Jewish artists and works that illustrate stories from the Hebrew Bible.
We will discover art that alludes to the significance of Jewish religion and culture in Western Civilization. Our looking and talking together will provide a partial answer to the question, “What’s Jewish at the Philadelphia Museum of Art?
