Washington Memorial’s A250 Day Of Thanksgiving
Set against the timeless beauty of Valley Forge, this unique day will bring together history, reflection, faith and fellowship as we pause to give thanks for God's providence and the enduring sacrifices that brought us independence, liberty, and peace.
Join us at 2 pm for a free, outdoor viewing of the film “A Great Awakening,” the story of Rev. George Whitefield’s powerful preaching to thousands of Americans during the first Great Awakening - and his unlikely friendship with Benjamin Franklin.
At 5 pm, we will host a special Evensong. Brigadier General Ed Brandt, former US Army Deputy Chief of Chaplains for the Army National Guard and Chief Chaplain, National Guard Bureau, and current Sr. Pastor for United Church of Marco Island, Florida, will give the sermon on this occasion of thanksgiving for God’s Providence in the formation of the United States of America.
