The Kimmel Cultural Campus will once again host the annual, FREE Three Kings Day celebration (Día de Reyes), in association with the Consulate of Mexico in Philadelphia and the Mexican Cultural Center, on Friday, January 6, 2023, from 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. This year marks the 7th anniversary of the Kimmel Cultural Campus’ partnership with the Mexican Cultural Center and the Consulate of Mexico in Philadelphia to host this event, which is celebrated widely in Latino and Hispanic communities.

“The Kimmel Cultural Campus is Philadelphia’s gathering place for transformative performances as well as impactful community initiatives,” said Matías Tarnopolsky, president and CEO of The Philadelphia Orchestra and Kimmel Center, Inc. “It is a privilege to partner once again with the Consulate of Mexico and the Mexican Cultural Center to host this culturally rich tradition of the holiday season.”

Three Kings Day, or Día de Reyes, is the final celebration with which the 12 days of Christmas end (on January 6). It is believed that on January 6, the Three Kings/Wise Men – Melchior, Caspar, and Balthazar – presented baby Jesus with symbolic gifts of gold, frankincense, and myrrh.

Family-friendly onsite activities include piñatas; hot chocolate, and a traditional “Rosca de Reyes” bread station; plus, reenactment & retelling of the Three Kings’ story and other surprises.
