REEL OCTOBER: The Philadelphia Film Festival at 35

An entire month dedicated to the power of cinema.

In 2026, the Philadelphia Film Society invites audiences to experience film like never before with REEL OCTOBER, a citywide celebration marking two major milestones: the 35th anniversary of the Philadelphia Film Festival and the 25th anniversary of PFS.

The celebration begins October 1 with a rare two-week showcase of films presented exclusively on 35mm, curated from classic, influential, and seldom-seen works and screened at the Film Society Center. These presentations honor the artistry of celluloid and the enduring magic of the theatrical experience.

From October 15–25, REEL OCTOBER culminates with the 35th Philadelphia Film Festival, transforming the city into a hub for premieres, filmmakers, and global cinema.

REEL OCTOBER is a celebration of cinema’s past, present, and future through bold programming, shared experiences, and a month-long invitation to gather in the dark and look together.
