Museum of the American Revolution: Occupied Philadelphia

British soldiers

Join the Museum of the American Revolution for their annual Occupied Philadelphia events to commemorate the occupation of Philadelphia by the British for nine months during the Revolutionary War, beginning in fall 1777. Living history reenactments on the plaza outside the Museum of the American Revolution as well as in the front courtyard and back lawn of Carpenters' Hall are free to the public. See and talk to costumed soldiers, citizens, and spies and meet with members of the National Park Service in front of Carpenters' Hall for crafts and to learn more about the Hall during occupation. On the back lawn, visit a British military encampment, chat with American prisoners of war, and more to learn about life under occupation!

Special programming such as walking tours are available to Museum of the American Revolution patrons.
