From Manila to Wall Street | Booktalk with Butch Meily

event flyer

In celebration of Philadelphia’s World Heritage Week, we invite you to join author Butch Meily in the Business Resource & Innovation Center (BRIC) at Parkway Central Library. The program is free. Go to their website to get additional information.

From Rene "Butch" Meily — trusted public relations strategist to Reginald Lewis, the CEO of Beatrice International and one of the most successful entrepreneurs in history — comes an eye-opening look at one of the first Black billion-dollar dealmakers in the United States. Lewis made his fortune not in entertainment or sports, but as a skilled and visionary businessman whose personal and commercial empire spanned four continents.

Meily’s memoir, From Manila to Wall Street: An Immigrant's Journey With America's First Black Tycoon gives you insights into Lewis' daring corporate takeovers, his extravagant global lifestyle, and the fatal brain tumor that claimed his life at age 50. But Meily also reflects on the many lessons he learned from those experiences — lessons that helped him eventually become the president of a global disaster assistance organization in the Philippines.

The Literary Cafe Books and Events will host the book signing following the presentation.  The book will be available for purchase.
