Lafayette Bus Tour

lafayette

The excursion includes visits to two historic Philadelphia sites that Lafayette visited during his 1824-25 return to America. Guests will be welcomed by AFL members at the Museum of the American Revolution, where an AFL escort will accompany the motor coach, providing insightful commentary throughout the journey.

The first stop is Eastern State Penitentiary for a tour and presentation at 10:45 a.m. At 11:45 a.m., guests will reboard the bus and travel to the second destination, historic Strawberry Mansion in East Fairmount Park. Here, guests will enjoy a custom gourmet box lunch, with docent-led tours of the mansion and its award-winning gardens available between 12:00 and 1:45 p.m.

The excursion will depart Strawberry Mansion at 2:00 p.m. and return to the Museum of the American Revolution. Time and access permitting, the motor coaches will also pass through East Fairmount Park to view other historic summer villas that Lafayette knew during the Revolutionary years and revisited 40 years later.
