Fabrics of Our Legacy: “Ruth E. Carter: Afrofuturism in Costume Design”

Event Flyer

On Saturday, November 1, 2025, the African American Museum in Philadelphia (AAMP) invites you to an evening of elegance and artistry at The Fabrics of Our Legacy—a night that celebrates fashion, culture, and music at their finest.

This intimate experience, exclusively for guests 21 and older, begins with private access to Ruth E. Carter: Afrofuturism in Costume Design, a breathtaking exhibition featuring nearly 80 original designs that have shaped the look and feel of films such as Black Panther and Do the Right Thing. Carter’s creations are more than costumes—they are powerful statements of identity, vision, and imagination.

As the night unfolds, indulge in an open bar with specialty crafted cocktails and savor a selection of refined passed hors d’oeuvres designed to heighten the evening’s atmosphere. Every detail is curated to keep the mood stylish, elevated, and unforgettable.

The highlight of the evening is an intimate performance by R&B powerhouse Keke Wyatt. Known for her unmatched vocals and commanding stage presence, Wyatt promises to deliver a performance that will captivate and electrify the room, leaving no doubt that this is the cultural event of the season.

Last but not least, to celebrate the beginning of our 50th anniversary year in 2026, we’re including a membership to AAMP in the price of this ticket! Enjoy unlimited visits to the museum, a discount at the Museum Gift Shop, and more member benefits and perks all year long.

Attire: Shades of Royalty – Dress to Impress, but crown the look with your fiercest pair of sneakers.

This is not just another night out. It is where culture meets couture, where music meets memory, and where you belong in the room. You don’t want to miss it.
