Exhibition Seminar: Noguchi to Asawa: Designing Postwar America

Migrated automatically.

This on-site seminar explores the vital contributions of Japanese American artists and designers in the decades after World War II through our fall special exhibition, Noguchi to Asawa: Designing Postwar America.

Through guided discussions inside the exhibition, participants will have the opportunity to examine the artistic achievements, political activism, and resilience of Japanese American artists working amid war, incarceration, and global change.

Led by Joe Tokumasu Field, contributor to the Isamu Noguchi catalogue raisonné and former educator at the Noguchi Museum and the Guggenheim, this seminar draws upon the latest scholarship and invites participants to collaboratively explore both renowned and lesser-known artists whose innovative work continues to shape today’s cultural landscape.
