Community and Memory: The Dr. Mian Jan Fellowship (virtual)

event flyer

Join Charisse Octavio and Gianna Leonen, two recipients of CCHC’s Dr. Mian Jan Fellowship, as they explore the meaning of community, family, and connection. They were responsible for outreach to the South and Southeast Asian communities of Chester County by recording immigration narratives for preservation and access at CCHC. Learn how they collected community memory through oral history and images and then developed a digital exhibit and an educational guide. Their journey of personal discovery and professional experience can help others learn about what questions to ask and how to consider the technical aspects of documenting your own memoir.

The Dr. Mian Jan Fellowship funds student internships that help CCHC to collect, preserve, and share the experiences of people from South and Southeast Asia. The conversation will be moderated by Ellen Endslow, CCHC Director of Collections/Curator. Questions from the audience are encouraged.

This hybrid program will be held in person at the Chester County History Center (225 N. High Street, West Chester, PA) as well as online. All registered participants will be sent the Zoom link the day before the program.
