December 2, 2020   Dear Colleagues, I’m extremely proud and excited to announce a $9 million gift from Drexel alumna Dana Dornsife and her husband David to the Dornsife School of Public Health that will put Drexel in the forefront of research on racial inequality and health disparities. Their gift will enable the launch of a new Center on Racism and Health, as well as enhance our ability to recruit and retain faculty experts on racial inequities in health, while also endowing the deanship for public health.

By Tasnim Hasan Professor David Steingard has been teaching in the Haub School of Business at Saint Joseph’s University (SJU) for the past 21 years focusing on ethics, leadership, sustainability, and business. While Steingard thoroughly enjoys teaching students, he is excited about facilitating their learning. He added that there is nothing more rewarding than witnessing students demonstrate mastery over “substantive academic topics” and applying that knowledge to real-world applications that make a difference.

This past summer, Global Philadelphia Association said farewell to an integral member of our team, Bianca Robinson.  Robinson, a native Philadelphian, arrived at GPA at first as a college intern from Drexel University, transitioning soon after to GPA’s Office Manager. Her role involved a variety of activities that make a nonprofit like GPA run smoothly, such as member relations, invoicing, intern recruiting, social media, and much more.

Dear members of the Eisenhower Fellowships global family, I am saddened to report that President Emeritus and longtime Trustee Dorie Friend passed away peacefully yesterday after a long illness, surrounded by his loving family. He was 89.

By Peak Johnson Ernest Owens has been a journalist for ten years since he was a freshman at the University of Pennsylvania. He started off in student broadcast radio and started taking up professional freelance writing opportunities soon after. Owens’ first big break came in 2012 when he won a student writing contest from Arianna Huffington to get published in the Huffington Post.

Beginning in the last few weeks of September and into the middle of October, Hispanic Heritage month is dedicated to highlighting the unique culture and heritage shared among people of Hispanic Americans.  To honor this special month and to provide a unique learning experience to students, Temple University held a webinar in early October, highlighting strong Hispanic businessmen and women.
