The Harmony for Peace Foundation, www.harmonyforpeace.org, seeks to promote cross-cultural understanding through the arts, in particular music, serving as a bridge among nations to promote mutual respect and a common path to world peace. Through performances, exhibitions, events and advocacy they stand for a united voice of reason against nuclear proliferation across the globe.

Executive Director Tomoko Torii has spent the last 25 years creating opportunities for cross-cultural and international exchange. Known for a myriad of accomplishments in both business and musical and visual arts, Torii began Harmony For Peace Foundation in 2009 as a platform for artists worldwide.

At Harmony For Peace, they believe in “Children and Youth are the Peace Messengers of Today and the Leaders of Global Friendship Tomorrow,” their mission is to present an opportunity for internationally and locally known artists to work together with young performers and promote friendship and peace beyond borders. They place an importance in our efforts to strengthen our community through cross-cultural understanding and musical opportunities. Through music and the arts, they bridge cultural and generational gaps, working wholeheartedly for a world of global peace and understanding.

Their past concerts have included “Harmony For Peace Concert,” at Carnegie Hall, International Friendship Concert at Lincoln Center’s Avery Fisher Hall, International Peace Day Concert 2013 at the Kimmel Center in Philadelphia, which brought 160 performers, an audience of over 800 guests and 100 “Gift of Music” recipients, and the Second Annual International Peace Day Concert at the Kimmel Center which saw 1000 guests, over 200 performers and 100 Gift of Music Recipients.
