Founded in 1909, the Economy League of Greater Philadelphia, formerly the Pennsylvania Economy League - Southeastern PA (PEL), is an independent, nonpartisan, nonprofit organization committed to ensuring the region's prosperity through analysis and action. We bring together established and emerging leaders to understand the region's challenges and work toward innovative solutions.

The Economy League is dedicated to making Greater Philadelphia a world class region. Through in-depth research, collaboration with regional stakeholders, and creative problem-solving, the Economy League is in a unique position to serve as a catalyst for action.

Economy League initiatives include:

  • World Class Greater Philadelphia

World Class Greater Philadelphia is an initiative that convenes business, nonprofit, government, labor, and community leaders to establish a set of long-term priorities and focused strategies to better our region. Facilitated by the Economy League of Greater Philadelphia, this multi-year initiative strives to make the region a world class place to live, work, and play by 2026 -- the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence.

  • Greater Philadelphia Leadership Exchange

The Greater Philadelphia Leadership Exchange aims to develop leaders of business, nonprofit, and government organizations into regional visionaries dedicated to making Greater Philadelphia a world class region.

  • IssuesPA

IssuesPA.org has been the leading nonpartisan online resource on state-level issues and policies since 2002.

  • Budget Challenge

On March 23, 2009, the Economy League launched the interactive, web-based, yearly Philadelphia Budget Challenge to help residents think about their priorities for the city not in a vacuum, but in relation to real fiscal constraints and opportunities.
