M. T. (“Terry”) Cooke is the Founder and Chief Executive Officer of GC3 Strategy LLC. He started GC3 to advance an extraordinary global economic opportunity: to catalyze in U.S. and European businesses and organizations the know how to work more effectively and strategically with emerging Asian economies.
During Terry’s 15 year career with the U.S. Foreign Commercial Service, he held progressively more responsible positions at the U.S. Missions in Asia (Taipei, Tokyo, Shanghai) and Europe (Berlin) acting as the U.S. Government’s senior commercial representative in Taiwan and Berlin. These responsibilities enabled Terry to build strong commercial relationships that are now solidified to direct his company’s network plant and initiatives. His consensus building skills, capacity for cross-cultural bridge building, mastery of languages and cultural norms, and his personal dedication to the cause of win-win industrial strategies between east and west, impart Terry as the leader to connect the U.S.A. and Europe with the large, fast paced Asian economies that make the new single global economy a reality.
From 2006 to 2008, Dr. Cooke served as Director of Asian Partnership Development for the Geneva-based World Economic Forum, the convener of the world's premier global conference held annually in Davos, Switzerland. Dr. Cooke also served as a Senior Fellow at the Foreign Policy Research Institute in Philadelphia and a senior consultant to the RAND Corporation.
He currently advises the Lauder Institute at the University of Pennsylvania Wharton School and the City of Philadelphia on its global business outreach initiatives. He is a graduate of U.C. Berkeley -- Ph.D. (1985) and M.A. (1981) -- and Princeton University -- B.A. (1976). He has diplomatic fluency in Mandarin Chinese, Japanese, Hindi, German and French.
