Headquartered in Philadelphia, Women's Campaign International (WCI) advances opportunities for women to actively participate in public advocacy, market and political processes. In providing the requisite skills, knowledge and culturally-sensitive support, we develop leaders who transform the lives of everyone they serve.
WCI launched its Philadelphia-based program, the Global Advocacy and Leadership Series (GALS) to empower high-school girls here in our home community. The GALS Program helps these young girls develop the skills they need to become leaders and act as agents of change.
Throughout the course of the program, young women identify pressing issues in their communities and design and implement advocacy campaigns which raise awareness and call for action. In the past, GALS program participants have tackled issues including teen pregnancy, self-esteem, bullying, teen dating abuse, and discrimination. View the video below for an example of one team's advocacy efforts to address bullying at their school through a survey and series of public service announcements!
This year, the GALS program needs your support so that it can continue to expand to more schools in Philadelphia. Please visit the GALS Pepsi Refresh page and vote for this program so that more young girls can learn the skills they need to lead and create change!
