In January 2012, Marcelo Blaz came to Temple University with the first cohort of Science Without Borders scholars, fully funded to study a science or tech field in the United States for one year. Before he began his summer 2012 internship, GPA staff member Aggie Ebrahimi Bazaz sat down with him to discuss his impressions of Philadelphia and his thoughts on what makes a global city.

Formerly President of US Commerce at QVC and an extremely accomplished businesswoman, Devon, PA's Darlene Daggett now serves as Founder and Executive Director of Ikatu International, a private foundation implementing for-profit, market driven solutions to address youth employment challenges in Sub-Saharan Africa. Global Philadelphia Association sat down with Ms. Daggett to discuss how she translated her incredible successes in the private sector into achieving her goals as a social entrepreneur, as well as why she chose to focus on Sub-Saharan Africa and youth employment.
