Posted on June 21, 2012

The Keepers Project is a West Philadelphia community-based dance theater project for people 65 years of age and older of all skill levels and ethnicities. The dance theater company examines stories of family roots and history. Workshops will take place monthly from July 2012 through March 2013. No experience is required, just a willingness to share and connect. Workshops are free. To register and for more information, contact 215-462-7720, or email [email protected].
The first workshop will take place on Thursday, July 19 at 10 AM-11:30 AM at the University City Arts League, 4426 Spruce Street, Philadelphia, PA. Workshops will explore the group's stories that may include traditions, immigrating to the US, or life-changing moments through a series of guided movement and theater exercises. Sessions will be documented and participants will keep a journal and leave with a workshop portfolio. Participants are encouraged to attend all 10 workshops.
Anne-Marie Mulgrew, artistic director of Anne-Marie Mulgrew and Dancers Co. and assisted by company member, Megan Wilson Stern will conduct and facilitate sessions.
