A Symposium About How We Run Our Elections and Govern Our Nation
The World Affairs Council of Philadelphia is relocating the entirety of its Great Debates program Is American Politics Broken? on October 7th to the Hotel Monaco, 5th and Chestnut Streets, due to the closing of Independence National Historical Park, and therefore Congress Hall, for the pendency of the government shutdown.
Even if the shutdown ends before October 7th, time no longer allows Comcast, to ready this historic building for a webcast.
The schedule remains the same, as follows:
4 p.m. Registration
4:30 p.m. Session I – featuring Thomas Mann and Norman Ornstein
6 p.m. Speaker Reception or Break
7:15 p.m. Session II – featuring the Hon. Evan Bayh and the Hon. Fred Thompson
Join WAC for the second in our Great Debates Series at America’s Congress Hall, where the U.S. Congress met when Philadelphia was the capital from 1790-1800.
This event will feature some of the nation’s top speakers who will address important questions about American government and elections, such as, Is it even ‘worse than it looks?’ What is wrong with the Senate and can it be fixed? and, perhaps, most important of all, Is American politics broken?
Everyone purchasing tickets to the remote viewing at the Hotel Monaco is automatically entered for a chance to win tickets to attend the program in Congress Hall.
