Are you looking for an adventurous alternative to happy hour? This two-hour kayaking course will teach you paddling and safety basics before a quick trip out of the basin to take in the city skyline.

Join the Independence Seaport Museum for this lesson and kayaking trip at Penn’s Landing Marina.

This is a great opportunity to get outdoors and try something new this summer!

Must be 18 or older to participate and the tickets are $50.

Celebrate Oliver St. Clair Franklin with the Royal Heritage Society of Delaware Valley

On Sunday, June 11th at 2:00 PM the Royal Heritage Society will hold a Buffet Lunch to honor the Honorary British Consul for Greater Philadelphia - Oliver St. Clair Franklin. Before Queen Elizabeth passed away, she bestowed upon him the rank of Commander of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire. This will be a casual affair held in the Garden of Ormiston Mansion. It is a children friendly event.

World Heritage Week 2023

World Heritage Week is a celebration of the World Heritage City Designation of Philadelphia. The last Thursday of May is set as World Heritage Day by the city council.

In 2016, Mayor Jim Kenney created Philadelphia World Heritage Day on the last Thursday of May to celebrate Philadelphia's World Heritage City Designation. Today, we celebrate World Heritage Week with a selection of events to highlight Philadelphia's international heritages and communities.

Author Talk: Jim Murphy- Real Philly History, Real Fast

In Real Philly History, Real Fast, Jim Murphy provides an original tour of the city, highlighting artistic gems such as the Dream Garden Tiffany mosaic, and profiles intriguing historical figures from military leader Commodore Barry to civil rights heroes like Lucretia Mott. Murphy also explores neighborhoods from Chinatown to the Italian Market and the unique architectural details of Carpenters' Hall and the PSFS building. This is Philly history in bites that are as digestible as a soft pretzel with mustard.
