You are invited by The Harry and Catherine Halloran Family Trust to attend the art unveiling of a new piece of public artwork by Russell Craig celebrating SDG #16: Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions. This unveiling is a part of the WAWA Welcome America series of celebrations.
The work is a portrait of Thurgood Marshall painted by Mural Arts artist Russell Craig and it is sponsored by The Harry and Catherine Family Foundation. Russell Craig is a self-taught Philadelphia-based artist. Craig became involved in Mural Arts Philadelphia’s Restorative Justice Program and later joined the organization to paint murals in under-resourced communities. He continues to collaborate with Philadelphia Mural Arts as a muralist, teaching art to court-involved youth. Project Home is the recipient of the GPA/Harry and Catherine Halloran Family Trust Grant.
Reinforcing its commitment to peace, justice, and strong institutions, The Harry and Catherine Halloran Family Trust simultaneously gave a grant to Project HOME to support their work in breaking the cycle of homelessness and poverty and alleviating the underlying causes of poverty.
This art project is the first out of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals, and has become the third goal aimed at achieving the goal of promoting peace, justice and strong institutions in the campaign at Global Philadelphia Association.
