http://www.tibetanbuddhist.org/ Join the Chenrezig Tibetan Buddhist Center beneath the full moon and clear sky to celebrate the holy day of Saka Dawa.
Tradition says that Shakyamuni Buddha was born, enlightened, and passed into Parinirvana all on the same day of the lunar calendar - the 15th day of the 4th month. This year, the date is Saturday, May 25th. Because Saka Dawa is such a holy day, it is felt to be auspicious to do practices on this day - many Buddhists believe the merit of your practice is multiplied 100 million times when you practice on Saka Dawa. So far the weather is forecasted to be a beautiful, clear, Spring day and evening. So please come out and join them for prayers, practice and a whole lot of fun if you can.
They will be joining the Philadelphia Tibetan community on this evening to celebrate this auspicious event! There will be musical and dance performances by local Tibetans, and food will be served as well.
Donations are optional. However, all money raised will be shared equally between the TBC and the Tibetan Association of Philadelphia. Come out and support the local Tibetan community.
For questions about this wonderful event, please email Tony Boris at [email protected].
