http://theorigin.splashthat.com This year is going to be BIGGER and BETTER. The show is all things African Fashion and Art and this year the group decided to pay homage to African Hair and Body Paint too. We expect to provide our guests and participants not only a great show but a unique opportunity to witness showmanship of different talents in African fashion, beauty and hair.
If you didn't know, SLYA is a platform led and driven by young Sierra Leoneans and fellow youth with African backgrounds living in Philadelphia. With the main aim of serving interests of young people all over Philadelphia, SLYA promotes active youth participation by providing safe alternative programs which will create opportunities for youth to unlock their potential. If you get a chance to watch the video(https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1A_GFz7Xv4Y) you will see many of the youth we serve will be participating in the fashion show by way of modelling or even dancing.
SLYA aims to become the face of the Sierra Leone youth diaspora in Philadelphia by actively participating and contributing to the sustainable development of our "Home" and "Host" societies, and this fashion show serves as our first large fundraiser to boost our operating budget. We are appreciate any support as we are creating a large a network that facilitates the sharing of interests and aspiration while working on a common goal. This includes: diversity programming, community outreach and cultural awareness.
Doors Open 8:30 pm. There is free street parking and a metered parking lot made available next to the venue.
