On August 18, Shofuso will host Philadelphia’s sixth annual Obon celebration. The festivities will include the eponymous dances, taiko drumming, tea ceremony demonstrations, traditional games, and arts & crafts. Poi Dog will return to the festival, and will sell a variety of Japanese Hawaiian lunches and snacks.

The festival will also include a flea market and gift shop with vendors selling traditional goods. Tent space is available at a rate of $150 for a 12' tent and two tables or $75 for a shared tent space with a single table. Interested vendors may send an email to [email protected] with contact information, a description of goods and services with price ranges, and any festival experience they may have. Apply now through Friday, August 3 for consideration.

All events are free and open to the public. In the event of inclement weather, Obon will be rescheduled to Sunday, August 19.
