On Friday, November 1, The Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia will host their annual Pediatric Global Health Conference. This year's topic will be "Violence Against Children: Global Perspectives on Resilience, Response and Healthy Outcomes." Violence has devastating effects on the health and well-being of children and occurs in every country in the world. Violence is often deeply rooted in cultural, economic and social practices and inhibits the potential for children to contribute to society.
Violence negatively affects their ability to learn and their social and emotional development.
This conference will seek to explore the following:
- the developmental and psychosocial consequences of violence on children globally
- the global response to violence against children
- the long-term implications of violence on children and society
- tools for professionals working with children exposed to violence
Through expert faculty, a keynote address, and interactive panel discussions this conference will provide learning opportunities for conference attendees to understand the global reality and response to violence against children.
Tools and effective interventions for clinicians working with children exposed to violence will also be explored.
