The Boyer college of Music and Dance is glad to invite you to the demonstration-lecture by Indian violinist R.K.Shriramkumar.
R.K. is a virtuoso violinist of the Carnatic style of Indian Classical music.
He will present an introduction to the Carnatic style of Indian classical music including explanation of its basic raga (melody) structure and its tala (rhythm) components.
He will also demonstrate how the violin, primarily a Western instrument, has been adapted to become an integral part of a Carnatic music concert.The session will end with a short performance on the violin. There will be a Q&A segment at the end of presentation.
