“German Society Second Annual Bierfest” on Saturday, Feb 23rd

Date:
Saturday, February 23, 2013 - 12:00pm - 5:00pm Location:
German Society of Pennsylvania,
611 Spring Garden Street
Philadelphia, PA

United States
See map: Google Maps
The Society's is building on last year’s overwhelming success, when their "First Annual Bierfest" drew about 300 attendees for a relaxed family-friendly afternoon of German-style beers and American-style bluegrass music.
As last year, attendees can expect a world-class beer tasting event celebrating Pennsylvania’s German brewing heritage, featuring delicious German-style beers from Pennsylvania and Germany, traditional German cuisine and live bluegrass music by the Keystone Mountain Boys.
This year, at least sixteen of Pennsylvania’s craft and legacy brewers will participate in the Bierfest and serve a wide range of beers -- from refreshing pilsners to malty doppelbocks. The Bierfest will also offer more imported beer in 2013, with an expanded ‘German Import Lounge’ hosted in the Ratskeller by The Foodery. Brauhaus Schmitz will serve delectable German snack foods, and the Philly Roller Girls will be on hand like last year for pouring beer. In addition to gastronomic delights and fun and games, the Bierfest attendees will enjoy access to unique educational opportunities, like the Brewer’s Discussion Panel on ‘Lager-Love and the Resurgence of Session Styles’ at 4pm in our Horner Memorial Library.
Like last year, Bierfest 2013 will also feature a guided tasting seminar for VIP ticketholders, led by sommelier, author and Philadelphia Daily News columnist Marnie Old before the main event kicks off.
Bierfest is a family-friendly and community-supporting event. Supervised childcare and ‘beer-less’ designated driver tickets are available. Buy tickets online or by phone at (215) 627 - 2332.
