De Pueblo a Pueblo (From Town to Town) is an eight-week celebration from April 27-June 16 honoring the local Mexican community by promoting a greater understanding of the traditional arts, language, and history. The citywide festival will connect one of the nation's largest growing populations and their customs with a broader Philadelphia audience.
De Pueblo A Pueblo was formed in partnership with artist Laurence Salzmann, Philadelphia's Magic Gardens, the Mexican Cultural Center, and Casa Monarca. The festival Advisory Committee, with the support of the local Mexican community, developed the concept for De Pueblo a Pueblo to coordinate the many participants. Over 25 participating groups are providing hands-on activities, performances, film screenings, traditional foods, crafts and folk art, and discussions about immigration as a window to better learn about our south-of-the-border neighbors.
