The art of food and wine pairing is a specialty at the Wine School. After all, they are the folks who created the two most popular food and wine classes in Philadelphia: the Sommelier Smackdown, and the Corked & Forked series of cooking classes. In "Culinaria" they take the concept to a whole new level. The reigning champion of the Sommelier Smackdown hosts this premier food and wine event, selecting his best food and wine pairings...which you get to enjoy, of course! This month, they are featuring a three course tasting of Thai food with both beer and wine pairings.

Architectural Historian Michael J. Lewis will trace the roots and development of Philadelphia’s private and public libraries.

The Quakers who founded Philadelphia believed in universal literacy and were great creators of libraries. The first was the Library Company, which Benjamin Franklin helped establish in 1731 and which was America’s first subscription library. But Quakers also believed that knowledge should be useful, and gave their libraries a pragmatic character unlike those of any other American city.
