On Independence Day, City Tavern offers a selection of specials in addition to the regular à la carte menu, both boasting favorite dishes enjoyed by our forefathers. Guests from all over the world are treated to a grand celebration complete with the top-notch 18th century historical re-enactment group from Fort Mifflin.

This fun and educational experience features re-enactors dressed in authentic period garb as they bring to life the daily rituals of a colonial soldier, display a military campsite, and demonstrate 18th century crafts and skills. Even General Washington, Ben Franklin, and Thomas Jefferson stop by for the festivities.

Come celebrate not only July 4th and the birth of our nation, but Chef Walter Staib's 18th year as proprietor of the City Tavern. When Chef Walter Staib opened the doors of City Tavern, he envisioned an authentic 18th century tavern where the world could learn about and appreciate America's culinary heritage, and18 years later, he's still making it happen.
