Free Carillon Concerts this Summer

July 7 – Carlo van Ulft

Thomas Rees Carillon, Springfield, Illinois

Carlo van Ulft, a native of The Netherlands, will perform the July 7th concert. Since 2015, Carlo has been Director/Carillonneur of the Thomas Rees Memorial Carillon in Springfield, Illinois, after serving 18 years in that position at the Centralia Carillon in Centralia, Illinois. Also, in 2012 Carlo founded the North American Carillon School to fill the need for an independent American carillon institute to serve carillonneurs of all ages and skill levels.

As it has for the last 68 years, Washington Memorial Chapel will again offer free Carillon Concerts this summer. As last year, we will feature all American carillonneurs, although two of them, Carlo van Ulft and Roy Kroezen, are originally from Europe. Concerts are every Wednesday in July and August starting at 7:30 PM. Bring a blanket or lawn chair, snacks or get dinner from the Chapel Cabin Shop before the concert. Each is about one hour.
