Bring the Beat! Music and Social Justice

Monday, July 25, 2022 - 10:00am - Friday, August 26, 2022 - 5:00pm Bring the Beat! is a songwriting and audio production program that focuses on exploring themes of social justice and anti violence. The program seeks to engage students to create songs about the value of anti-violence, family, community, and wellness. Students will be working with our teaching artists in 2 modules (Summer and Fall). We base the modules on best research practices, lyric writing, song production, and recording. Students will learn music theory fundamentals that will enable them to write the song coupled with their group music lessons.
¡Trae el ritmo! es un programa de producción de audio y composición de canciones que se enfoca en explorar temas de justicia social y lucha contra la violencia. El programa busca involucrar a los estudiantes para crear canciones sobre el valor de la lucha contra la violencia, la familia, la comunidad y el bienestar. Los estudiantes trabajarán con nuestros artistas docentes en 2 módulos (verano y otoño). Basamos los módulos en las mejores prácticas de investigación, escritura de letras, producción de canciones y grabación. Los estudiantes aprenderán los fundamentos de teoría musical que les permitirán escribir la canción junto con sus lecciones de música en grupo.
This Summer program is five weeks long, and has two sessions a week on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
The first cohort is from July 25th to August 26th, and is for ages 16-24.
