http://www.ivc.org/2011invitation IVC's 25th annual 'BBQ' is July 21st! It's the city's most fun Summer event and IVC's only fund-raiser to support our work of creating positive American experiences. For 25 years the annual BBQ has been a way for the IVC to create an "American experience" for guests from abroad.
It all started in 1986, when Penn asked us to create an "American experience" for ten Japanese businessmen who were learning business English. Ten young IVC professionals, our "Compass" members, grilled burgers and hot dogs, served cold beer and enjoyed the company of ten men from Japan.
25 years ago, the BBQ hosted twenty people. This year, IVC is expecting more than 500! Though the IVC BBQ started as just that, now it's indoors, air-conditioned, ant-&-mosquito-free,and as friendly with 500+ attending as it was with just 20. With S-p-e-e-d Networking, the "I Don't Know Anyone Tables" and the NEW "Dreadful Art Hour," you'll get to know lots of people in a short time and have a great evening getting to know them better while eating, dancing and networking.
The evening is also a great chance to win prizes, such as through the "Restaurant Drawing," which includes prizes from:
- Bistro St. Tropez
- The Capital Grille
- City Tavern
- Cuba Libre
- Devon Seafood Grill
- Fork
- Marmont Steakhouse & Bar
- Mémé
- Paloma
- Positano Coast
- Prime Rib
- Q BBQ & Tequila Bar
- Ristorante Panorama
- Tavern 17
And the evening's Grand Prize Drawing offers you a choice between two very special prizes:
- Lunch with Mayor Michael A. Nutter - thank you Mayor Nutter for understanding the importance of IVC's work.
