The Third Annual World Heritage Day: A Community Event
Philadelphia World Heritage Day was instituted by Mayor Kenney in 2016. It is celebrated on the fourth Thursday of each May.
This celebration is carried out in a different location and in a different way each year. Following 2016's celebration in City Hall and 2017's celebration at the Tilden School in Southwest Philadelphia, it will be celebrated at the Philadelphia Zoo in May 2018. This annual event is an important part of bringing awareness of Philadelphia's World Heritage City to all city residents.
More than 3,500 field trip students are expected to visit the Zoo for the 2018 World Heritage Day. All visitors will have the opportunity to learn about World Heritage at the Zoo, which is the first Zoo in the U.S.
Additionally, Global Philadelphia Association, in partnership with the City of Philadelphia and Philadelphia Zoo, will be hosting a private event for a select group of students in the Treehouse, featuring animals from all over the world.
