Branding a World Heritage City

Philadelphia is now officially a World Heritage City (WHC) with a World Heritage City Day . J2 worked with Global Philadelphia and hundreds of Philadelphia stakeholders to create brand messaging, a new identity system, website and collateral to celebrate and socialize this new status (for full WHC details, check out this Hidden City article).

The brand was built out using the idea of Our World, Our Heritage and Our City. Starting with Independence Hall, the city’s UNESCO site, the logo builds by incorporating horizontal lines symbolizing ideas that propel us forward and stars that represent both the history of the city and its bright future.

The new seal is meant to work in conjunction with the the PHL branding system designed for the Convention and Visitor’s Bureau and the City of Philadelphia, as seen on the World Heritage PHL website.

We can imagine this new brand being rolled out around Philadelphia

 

And maybe in Boston
