A World Cup-style tournament held over several months, the Philadelphia International Unity Cup unites the city’s neighborhoods and celebrates its diverse immigrant communities through soccer. The brainchild of Mayor Jim Kenney, the Unity Cup became an annual tradition after its massively successful inaugural year in 2016. Matches of the day include Puerto Rico vs. Indonesia and Ukraine vs. Brazil.

The Print Center is delighted to present an exhibition, guest curated by Ruth Fine, in conjunction with the Association for Public Art's installation of Puryear's temporary monumental work Big Bling.

In September, the Association for Public Art (aPA) in Philadelphia presents a major new site-specific work by the internationally acclaimed artist Cai Guo-Qiang. Commissioned by aPA with Fung Collaboratives on the occasion of the centennial of the Benjamin Franklin Parkway, Cai Guo-Qiang: Fireflies invites the public to actively experience the grand boulevard as a nocturnal dreamscape conjured from the languorous movements of bobbing clusters of glowing handcrafted Chinese lanterns and groups of customized peddle vehicles.

Free Exhibition of more than 250 examples of “real photo postcards” a popular and wide-spread type that were produced by professional and amateur photographers alike between 1904 and 1918. These extraordinary images depict Philadelphia at the zenith of its industrial prosperity. Of particular note are the scores of pictures of children who played on the streets of the ever-growing row-house neighborhoods of the Workshop of the World. Presented by The Athenaeum

The theme for this event is Innovation and Collaboration. The emphasis is on university-based innovation in four business sectors of particular interest to Chinese investors and corporates: healthcare and energy technology (morning panels) and real estate and education services (afternoon panels).

This event is intended for companies, organizations and individuals participating in, or otherwise supporting, the PHL-China Innovation Summit scheduled for the Penn Wharton China Center in Beijing on October 28, 2017.

Join bassist Warren Oree and the Arpeggio Jazz Ensemble for a trip down musical memory lane that illustrates how signature Motown sounds emanated from the soul and style of jazz.
