As the school year comes to a close, Art Education is in bloom. Our annual Student Art Show will be on display at Asian Arts Initiative from May 4 to May 19, and the month is full of dedications: Derrick Adams in North Philadelphia (May 9), Esperanza Academy Charter School in Hunting Park (May 10), and the Spring Garden Street Bridge in Mantua (May 21).

Through our Art Education program, we work with over 2,000 students at 25 sites across Philadelphia throughout the year, and we’re so excited to see their work on the wall! This year’s Student Art Show includes painting, photography, cyanotype, and weaving. All these techniques are used to explore themes of personal identity, collaboration, community, positive social and individual growth, personal voice, and more. The exhibition opens May 4, with a celebratory gathering from 4–7 p.m., so come wander through the galleries and let our students’ stories move you. RSVP: [email protected]

This year students created artwork using a variety of mediums and techniques including painting, photography, cyanotype, and weaving. Students explored various themes throughout the year such as personal identity, collaboration, community, positive social and individual growth, development of personal voice and more.

Don’t miss your chance to experience the powerful art of some of Philadelphia’s most talented young artists!
