In an effort to expand educational opportunities for children of all backgrounds to experience the joys of Arabic culture and heritage, Al-Bustan has created a weekly Saturday program in Arts, Culture, and Arabic Language instruction.

Open to Kindergartners through 7th graders, the Saturday Program focuses on Arabic instruction and reinforcement of the language through the arts. The teachers are Arabic speakers and will incorporate the language throughout class.

Instruction is offered in the following areas, depending on age group:

  • Arabic focuses on reading, writing, and conversing with hands-on interactive activities, weekly homework given to reinforce class instruction
  • Choir includes singing a repertoire of Arabic folk and classical songs with a performance each trimester
  • Art emphasizes use of the script and basics of calligraphy
  • Drama entails creating dialogue in Arabic and original dramatic scenes/plays in Arabic
  • Percussion incorporates counting in Arabic and names of rhythms played, working towards having the students play as an ensemble

The Saturday program will be offered in three trimesters.

September 17, 2011 - December 10, 2011

January 7, 2012 - March 24, 2012

April 14, 2012 - June 9, 2012

If payment is made for all three trimesters before Sept 17, Al-Bustan offers a discount of 10% on the total fee. Each additional sibling also receives a 10% discount on registration fees.

Please refer to the Al-Bustan website for more information and specifics on instructional periods for the various age groups, as well as payment options.
