PECO Multicultural Series Presents: Portuguese Heritage Festival

The Philadelphia Portuguese Heritage Commission in collaboration with The Delaware River Waterfront Corporation (DRWC), is proud to bring you Portugal Day 2012 this year at the Great Plaza at Penn's Landing. The festivities will kick off on Sunday, June 17, with a flag ceremony and the playing of the national anthem of Portugal. Part of the PECO Multicultural Series.

A full day of entertainment begins at 1 p.m., with a flag ceremony and playing of the national anthem of Portugal, followed by a blessing of the fleet aboard the Tall Ship Gazela. The Tall Ship Gazela is originally a Portuguese ship that is now berthed at Penn’s Landing.

Portuguese cuisine will be served all day, from BBQ sardines, chicken, pork, to the famous BBQ Chourico, as well samplings of Portuguese cheeses, wine, and great tasting Portuguese beer. For kids, there will be a clown, face painting and a moon bounce. The entertainment will feature folk dancing and live music, from Portuguese Traditional Music to Portuguese & American Rock and Blues.

The festival is produced by the Philadelphia Portuguese Heritage Commission. Philadelphia Portuguese Heritage Commission is the non-profit organization responsible for funding and producing the events for the celebration of Portuguese Heritage for the commemoration of Portuguese Day (“Dia de Portugal”) celebrated throughout the world on or around June 10 of every year.

Admission is FREE for all PECO Multicultural Series events.
